Kate is a member of the firms’ commercial team, with over 10 years’ experience in Wills and Estate Planning and estate and trust litigation.
Kate enjoys assisting clients to achieve estate planning solutions that are tailored to their individual circumstances and wishes. Clients appreciate Kate’s personal and friendly nature when discussing their Wills and estates and value the peace of mind that comes from obtaining personalised and comprehensive advice. With experience in estate and trust disputes and estate administration, Kate specialises in the following areas:
- Wills, including testamentary discretionary trust Wills;
- Powers of attorney;
- Enduring guardianship;
- Trusts; and
Kate has undertaken two reviews with the Tasmania Law Reform Institute, completing the review of the Guardianship and Administration Act 1995 (Tas) in 2018 and consideration of whether Tasmania should introduce ‘notional estate’ laws as part of the Testator’s Family Maintenance Act 1912 (Tas) in 2019.
Kate is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors’ Course and is a former President of the Heart Foundation of Australia (Tasmania Division) and Director of the National Heart Foundation of Australia. Kate has also served as a member of several Law Society Committees, including the Elder and Succession Law Committee, Continuing Professional Development Committee and Young Lawyers’ Committee (Southern Branch).
