David is a Director of Simmons Wolfhagen leading a team which has particular focus on planning and environmental advocacy and advice, the local government regulatory framework and governance, as well as building and construction dispute resolution.
David appears as Counsel most usually in the Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal and in the Tasmanian Planning Commission where he is an advocate for Councils, developers and third parties. He also appears as Counsel at the Appellate level in the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
David is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a past Chair of the Tasmanian Young Lawyers, past Vice Chair of the Australian Young Lawyers, past Editor of the Australasian Law Management Journal published by the General Practice Section of the Law Council of Australia. He is a past National Committee Member of the General Practice Section of the Law Council of Australia.
David is a past Board Member of Red Cross (Tasmania), the Fahan School, the Hutchins School (including as Chair).
David is currently Chairman of the Board of the Possability Group (a national not-for-profit operating in the disability sector). He is also involved with the Housing Industry Association as a member of the Regional Executive Committee (Tasmania) and is the Chairman of the HIA National Industrial Relations and Legal Committee.
