Wage increase prompt to review pay arrangements
The Fair Work Commission’s increase to the National Minimum Wage and minimum rates of pay under modern awards, which will take effect in most industries from 1 July 2022, together with the superannuation rate increase commencing from the same date, should prompt employers to carry out a review of pay arrangements for all award-covered employees.
Employers who pay award-covered employees by way of annual salary, intended to absorb the monetary entitlements which would otherwise arise under an award, will also need to conduct an analysis and update to ensure that salaries remain sufficient to meet the increased rates of pay.
